How long does invitro take?

i had both my tubes removed and one ovary. so i still have periods and my doctor told me he left the other one in so i could have in vitro fertilization. does this work at a high success rate and how long does it take. i have a son already but my fiancee doesnt and we get married in two weeks he wants to pay for me to do this i hope works.
