Just installed a new edelbrock intake and carb and not starting?

Just put a new edelbrock perfomer intake and AVS 600 cfm carb with electric choke on a chevy 350 small block, and when I try to start it the carb sputters and spits gas out the top. This is the second carb I put on. I took it back and cleaned out the needle and seat on the last one. I also put a fuel pressure reg on it. I have no Idea what is wrong. the car was running great when I took off the old.
