I do not want my first and surname to show on emails I send, can I change something so just my addy shows?

when I send out an email from yahoo account my first and last name show on the incoming email. I would it show my yahoo address only for privacy reasons. I was really surprised when I found out my full name was going out with all emails and will not use this account again until I can fix this. I recently advertised items for sale on a local ad page using my yahoo account and people using my name were able to find my address and come to my house. Sure scared me.
